Kodokan Judoka medal in Orlando

Kodokan Judoka took a day trip to Orlando to compete in the Orlando Judo Invitational on April 20, 2013. 

Taking First Place:  Christina Paccione x2, Erica Paccione, Alex Sacramento, Keegan Weigelt and Anthony Setzer.

Taking Second Place:  Brooke Peirson, Keegan Weigelt, Kaitlyn Weigelt and Jordy Barrera.

Taking Third Place:  Alex Sacramento

KODOKAN JUDO takes the GOLD at the SCHOLASTICS!

KODOKAN JUDO took six competitors to the 2013 USA JUDO Youth and Scholastic National Championships this weekend in Miami, Fl and five out of six take home the Gold!  Four out of six were undefeated in their divisions winning all of their matches.  Erica Paccione won all her matches by ippon!  The four undefeated champs are: Zackary Nyce, Melissa Herrera, Christina and Erica Paccione.  Jacob More fought seven times, winning six out of seven with exceptional newaza technique also taking the Gold! Dylan More won a match with seventeen in his division, he marginally lost his next two.  The athletes will continue to train to compete in local, national and international events.

KJCC takes 2nd Place Team Trophy @ Florida Open

KODOKAN JUDO took SEVEN competitors to compete in the 2013 FLORIDA OPEN JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS in Pembroke Pines, Fl and walked away with the 2nd PLACE TEAM TROPHY, 5-FIRST PLACE MEDALS, 3-SECOND PLACE MEDALS and 1-THIRD PLACE MEDAL.

FIRST PLACE:  Jacob More x2, Mackenzie More, Melissa Hererra and Zackary Nyce.

SECOND PLACE:  Zackary Nyce, Marcos Johnson and Bryan Acosta.

THIRD PLACE:  Dylan More.

Mar 2 - 3rd Annual Yoichiro Matsumura Judo Championships in Cape Coral, FL

KJCC gains points at the Cherry Blossom Open

KODOKAN JUDO represented CAPE CORAL at the CHERRY BLOSSOM OPEN JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS in Delray, Florida on Feb. 16th.  The tournament was classified as a USA JUDO JUNIOR NATIONAL E-LEVEL POINT TOURNAMENT for the first time bringing in competitors from as far away as California.

GOLD medalists:  Melissa Herrera, GenCarlo Montane, Christina Paccione & Erica Paccione. 

SILVER medalists:  Bryan Acosta, Marcos Johnson, GenCarlo Montane, Zackary Nyce, Erica Paccione, Alex Sacramento and Anthony Setzer.

BRONZE medalist: Jacob More

PARTICIPATION:  Eddie Ahlquist, Dylan More, Mackenzie More and Mark Tamulionis.

Cape Coral Judo Tournament - March 2, 2013

Kodokan Judo of Cape Coral will host the 3rd Annual Yoichiro Matsumura Judo Championships on March 2, 2013 at Oasis High School in Cape Coral.  There will also be a Newaza (Grappling) Division. 

Events prior to tournament:

Thursday, Feb 28 - JUDO CLINIC with Sensei YoichiorMatsumura, 8th Dan.  Time:  6 pm for Juniors, 7:30 pm for Seniors.  Venue: Kodokan Judo, 532 SE 47th Terrace, Cape Coral.

Friday, Mar 1 - REFEREE CLINIC with Mindy Beuhmann, PJC Referee.  Time: 6 pm.  Venue: Kodokan Judo.  Practical on March 2nd at Yoichiro Matsumura Judo Championships.

Events after tournament:

Sunday, Mar 3 - JUDO CLINIC with Shinjiro Sasaki, All-Japan Champion.  Time: 10 am for Juniors, 12 pm for Seniors.  Venue: Kodokan Judo.
